West Hollywood
  Hall Plaza Banners

This was a proposal to the City of West Hollywood for the Banners Displayed at the Community Plaza.

The three banners have the main themes of Community, Movement, and Celebration. The first references the land, and a spirit of wellbeing in nature, showcasing native black sage blossoms at the bottom, and a child picking up the pieces of a necklace. Next to her are tongva homes, two symbols meant to honor the origins of the land, and the nearest Tongva village, Maugna. Gathered around her is a picnic. In the middle banner, movement and recreation are the main subject. Showcasing an array of athletes and community members engaging in sport and fitness. Beneath is a native buckwheat blossom. The rightmost banner celebrates the city’s landmarks, including the Pacific Design Center, the Chateau Marmont, the pickup, and colorful patterns that reference the city’s vibrant neon and nightlife.

While thinking of how to best represent the city’s assets, history, and playful recreation activities, I also envisioned images that would evoke a hopeful future for the city.
